DC Sandeep Kadam said instructions had been issued to all SDMs and the Deputy Director, Education Department, to identify the areas prone to lightning and install lightning conductors atop school buildings to further prevent any mishap.

With the help of a lightning conductor, life and property could be saved, said an expert and added that a lightening conductor or a sharp pointed metallic rod should be mounted on top of buildings, using a wire or electrical conductor to interface with the ground through an electrode.

High-altitude areas, including Chauhar valley, Balichowki, Kamrunag Valley, Shakari Devi, Barot, Drang, Katola, Prashar Lake, Gadagausain and Seraj valley are more prone to lightning.
