Science Olympiad Foundation comes up with two new tests

The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), the biggest organiser of Olympiads for school students across the world, has launched two new Olympiad exams globally.

The new exams are International Sports Knowledge Olympiad (ISKO), in association with Star Sports, and International Company Secretaries Olympiad (ICSO) that is to be held in association with The Institute of Company Secretaries of India under the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

In Dehradun, around 25,000 students are registered for the Olympiad (2015-2016). Some of the regular participants from Dehradun are DSB International Public School, Ann Mary School, Doon International School, The Aryan School and Delhi Public School.

The ISKO, meant for students of Class I to X, will include sports and general knowledge questions. Scholarships worth Rs 2.25 crore will be given to the best performers. The ICSO is for students of Class 11 and 12. It makes students realise their aptitude and potential for company secretary profession. Students from all streams can appear in the test. International toppers from every class will be awarded a cash scholarship of Rs 1 lakh each. Over Rs 50 lakh will be awarded to winners of the ICSO.

The SOF is already partnering with The British Council for the International English Olympiad.

Mahabir Singh, founder and executive director, said, “Students and schools will be recognised and felicitated with awards and scholarships of over Rs 14 crore this year. Registrations for the current year are open. Forms have been sent to schools.”

ICSI president CS Mamta Binani said the CS Olympiad aimed at helping the students to evaluate themselves at school/city/state/national level and decide their professional career at an early stage. It will also help students understand how competent they are among their peers..

The SOF has been organising Olympiad exams for the past over 20 years. For the year 2015-16, approx 45 lakh students from 34,000 schools in 1,400 cities in India and 22 countries across the world got themselves registered for the Olympiads.
