Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary celebrated
Birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh was celebrated with great devotion and patriotic fervour at Green Land Convent School. A heartfelt tribute was paid to the son of soil who sacrificed his life at a very tender age. On this occasion, an extempore was organised and students were told about Bhagat Singh’s life. His dedication towards the country was praised and appreciated by the students through their speeches. Principal Vinita Sanan delivered a speech and appealed the students to follow his footsteps and be ideal and patriotic citizens of the country.
Ryan International School
Birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh was celebrated at Ryan International School with fervour. A slogan writing competition was organised. Principal Gurpal Anand said celebrating such days is crucial for instilling feeling of patriotism among the students.
Blossoms Convent School
Students of Blossoms Convent School celebrated Saheed Bhagat Singh’s birthday with zeal and enthusiasm. Principal Amarjit Kaur Naaz told students about the life of Bhagat Singh and asked students to get inspiration from his life and try to be loyal towards the country. On this occasion, the managing committee and staff members were present there.
Students shine
A host of Rural Sports and Games Under -16 for Youth welfare and services under the scheme Rajiv Gandhi Sports Campaign 2015-16 was organised in Jandiali. Athletes of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School performed well. Athelete Anmol Raj Preet Singh bagged the first position in throw ball, Shahwez Kureshi bagged the second position in 100m race and long jump and third position in 400m race and Gurkirat Singh bagged third position in 800m. Principal Rajni Arora appreciated the winners’ performance and also opined that such events encourage youths to move ahead in their respective fields.
IGNOU induction meeting
Induction meeting of Indira Gandhi National Open University was held at IGNOU Special Study Centre at Everest Public Senior Secondary School, Moti Nagar, on the eve of the commencement of the new session. Papu Singh, assistant registrar, IGNOU, Regional Centre, Khanna, was the chief guest. He gave detailed information about the policy and programmes of IGNOU. He said at present there are 45 lakh students receiving education form the IGNOU. Asha Sharma, Coordinator, IGNOU, Special Study Centre, threw light on various subjects taken by the new comers and advised them to study wholeheartedly to set new records in the sphere of education. She added that IGNOU provides an opportunity to non-matric persons to graduate in any stream by clearing the Bachelor Preparatory Programme.
Excursion for teachers
An excursion to Chandigarh was organised for the teachers of Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar. The group visited Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden and enjoyed shopping at Elante Mall. Principal Mona Singh said such outings help the teachers to unwind. She said a trip to a hill station at the end of the academic session is also on the anvil.
World Tourism Day
Students of Ryan Dugri observed World Tourism Day on the school premises. Students made a collage of famous places in India and spoke few lines on them. Students made drawings of their favourite tourist spot. They also wrote an essay on the topic” My Dream Destination” accompanied with a beautiful imaginary site. Headmistress Ritu Syal said India has tremendous tourism potential and students through their professional training can play a vital role in the development and promotion of tourism.
Astronomy session
Space Club has been started at Spring Dale Senior Secondary Public School wherein the club members had their first session on the topic ‘Journey on the Beam of Light’. Through a power point presentation the students were given information about the universe and different types of stars, planets, galaxies, nebulas and celestial bodies were shown to them. Students enjoyed the session. Astronomy kits were also distributed to the students. Managing Director Avinash Kaur Walia congratulated the club members and wished them good luck for their session. She encouraged them to keep learning with enthusiasm as science and space are the most interesting areas which are still not totally explored. — TNS
