To generate awareness among children about how to face challenges of adolescence, keep themselves away from drug abuse, respect and care for elderly people and develop a habit to conserve nature, the Human Resources Development Ministry organised a national folk dance competition in Delhi yesterday. The National Council of Education for Research and Training (NCERT) held this event in which students from nine states in North India participated. NCERT Director BK Tripathi and Secretary S Sen presented participation awards to students.
As per information, students performed a dance to a Pahari folk song prepared by school teachers. The team was led by school lecturer Rahul Kaushal. As many as 30 states are taking part in this national event. According to Principal Umesh Bhushan, the students who represented the state in the event were earlier selected in a district-level competition held at Dadh in Kangra.
