Students showcase projects at CBSE science exhibition

Recycling of water and its filtration is a major concern of school students who participated in the CBSE science exhibition for regional schools at DAV Model School, Sector 15, here.

The theme of the exhibition was community health and environment, landmarks in science and mathematics, energy resources and conservation, transport and waste management.

Various students displayed projects that reflected how sewerage water could be recycled and utilised for various activities by setting up low-cost projects in cities.

Kajal and Azim, students of Class VIII of Government High School, Maloya, prepared a home-made water purifier, which becomes functional by solar power to purify the water.

Rajit and Shivansh, students from Ismailabad, prepared a model of a sewerage treatment plant. The idea occurred to them after they saw wastewater collected around their schools.

About 70 schools from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh are participating in the exhibition. RC Jeevan, chairman, DAV School, inaugurated the exhibition. He said such occasions helped in raising the scientific temperament.

Principal of the school Dr Rakesh Sachdeva said: “Science has become an inseparable part of our lives. We cannot envisage a life without it today, not even a moment.”

The CBSE provided a platform to all future scientists through this exhibition, she said.
