Students were upbeat after the JEE (Advanced) examination results were declared today. While Adil Gupta clinched 116 all-India rank, he seemed calm and not extremely jubilant. He said he had learnt to remain composed as disappointment because of below-than-expected score in the IIT (Mains) examination had an adverse impact on his studies.
Tejpreet Singh from EduSquare said, “We conducted at least 60 mock tests and in all the tests, he stood first. But after the JEE (Mains) result, when he found that he was fourth in the institute itself, he became very disappointed. Teachers had to motivate him bytelling him that not doing well on just one day doesn’t mean that he won’t do well in future. But he got back on preparation after a couple of weeks.”
Simranpreet Singh, a student of Guru Nanak Public School, secured 1486 all-India rank. He wants to pursue computer science at IIT Delhi. He secured 94 per cent in the Class XII, he said. He said he wanted to do a research in this field after completion of his degree. His father Balwinder Singh is an executive officer in the Municipal Corporation and mother Mandeep Kaur is a teacher at Government School, Indirapuri. He said his idol was former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
Another city lad, Shantam Sharma from DAV School, BRS Nagar, has secured 2526 all-India rank in his first attempt. He wants to pursue industrial and production engineering from IIT Roorkie. His father Sushil Kumar Sharma is a finance manager at a private firm and mother Seema Sharma is a mathematics teacher at a government school.
He secured 96.8 per cent in Class XII. He said coaching helped him, but motivation and guidance from parents and family was equally important.
Other students who cleared the exam, included Aashish Gaba who secured 3498 rank, Puneet Kaur 3640 rank, Eric 3690 rank and Anubhav Bhatia 3876 rank, among others, were cheerful after the results.
