Teej was celebrated at GMT Public School. Students came dressed in Punjabi costumes. Punjabi food was served to them. Principal Ravinder Kaur appreciated the efforts made by students and teachers.

Little VIP’s Preschool

Students and staff of Little VIP’s Preschool celebrated Teej. Students dressed up beautifully in Punjabi attires. They danced to bhangra beats and Punjabi boliyan. Swings were decorated with flowers. A Punjabi cultural corner was set up. Charkha, pakhian, phulkari, peehra,chhaj, bangles, parandian were displayed to provide practical knowledge to kids. Eastwood International School

Eastwood International School, Mullanpur, celebrated Teej with joy. Girls came to school dressed in vibrant colours, splashing the school campus with rainbow hues. Students celebrated the spirit of Teej through dances and songs. School campus wore a festive look with buntings, fresh flowers and decorations replete with the traditional baagh, phulkaris, charkaha, earthern pots, hand fans and chhaj. Children enjoyed traditional snacks like gulgule, tikkis, along with malpuaas and kheer.

Singing competition

A singing competition was conducted at Guru Nanak Public School, Model Town Extension, (primary wing). Contestants enthralled the audience with their melodious voice. They sang songs in Hindi, Punjabi and English. Headmistress Dr Harjit Kaur Dua felicitated the winners and said such competitions help students to develop aesthetic values.

Chart-making contest

A chart-making competition was held at SDP Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road. Students made chart on social, political, environment and religious theme. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, president, SDP Sabha, congratulated the winners and motivated them to participate in such activities as they are essential for the growth of students.

Poem recitation

A Punjabi poem recitation competition was organised at MGM Public School. It was divided into two groups. Winners of intra-class competition took part in the event. Participants performed gracefully, making use of meaningful props. Principal Poonam Sharma and vice- principal Dr Navneet Kaur gave away the prizes and certificates to the winners. Appreciation certificates were also given to all the participants.

Pool party

Pool party was arranged at the elementary campus of the DCM Presidency School. Children had a gala time enjoying in water. They were attired in colourful costumes and had a fun filled day.

Singing competition

HVM Convent Senior Secondary School, New Subhash Nagar, Basti Jodhewal, celebrated patriotic spirit of the Independence Day by organising an inter-house patriotic singing contest. The council of the school prefects was also sworn in by principal Radhika Jain. She urged the students to perform their duties with sincerity and modesty upholding the ideals of HVM Convent School.

I-Day celebrations

Students of Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Senior Secondary Public School, Narangwal, celebrated Independence Day. Dances of Punjab giddha, bangra and tappe were performed by students. Students sang patriotic songs ‘Sare Jehanse Acchha Hindustan’ and ‘Hum Honge Kamyab ek din’. —TNS
