Patiala, April 4
Thapar University (TU), Patiala, has been ranked 26th in the Engineering institutions category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The university has performed better and jumped one rank over the 27th of the previous year. In the overall category, TU secured 75th rank and in another ranking, especially marked for universities, the institute secured 46th rank. A major positive is that Thapar University, Patiala continues to be the best-ranked private engineering institute of the region which includes Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh.
The NIRF ranking helps the engineering aspirants to choose a top-quality institution. In Punjab, private universities such as the LPU, Chitkara University, Chandigarh University do not figure anywhere in top 100 ranks announced by the NIRF. Further, the other prominent institute of the region — PEC — has also slipped to the 85th position from last year’s 38th position. —OC
