Dehradun, February 2
The Department of Medical Education has decided to opt for pre-engineered technology for building three government nursing colleges at Almora, Pithoragarh and Pauri Tehri.
“We will now go for pre-engineered technology. The colleges will be assembled and ready to use,” said RK Sudhanshu, secretary, Uttarakhand Department of Medical Education.
Earlier, the nursing colleges at Almora, Pithoragarh and Pauri Tehri were proposed to be built according to the old method. But alterations in design were made to save time and cost. However, the construction of Tehri Nursing College would be done in the traditional way and work for it had already begun.
The government would receive Rs 100 crore each for these projects under the 12 Five Year Plan. Earlier, the Department of Medical Education had proposed five government colleges under the plan, but due to delay in approval, the government was able to move proposals for only four colleges.
