Toshali brings laurels to city

Toshali Pandey of Ryan International School, Chandigarh, who had previously cleared the Class XII board exam with 96.2 per cent marks and made it to the JIPMER, Pondichery, and the AIIMS with 14th and 41st rank, respectively, has added another feather to her cap by qualifying the NEET with the all-India rank 14. Her parents Awadhesh Kumar Pandey and Bandana Pandey said they were thrilled on their daughter’s achievement. Her mother shared that Toshali’s perseverance and focus helped her attain the success.

Freshers’ party

Students of Moti Ram Arya Senior Secondary School, Sector 27-A, organised a freshers’ party at the school auditorium. Class XI students were warmly welcomed by the school director, principal, teachers and students. A modeling event for the freshers was also organised.

Independence Day celebrated

KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7, echoed with patriotism during the Independence Day celebrations. Founder principal and regional director Madhu Bahl graced the occasion. The celebrations started with a patriotic song followed by the flag hoisting ceremony. The sensitive issue of terrorism was depicted through a dance. Students attired as soldiers displayed their commitment to stop violence and vowed to bring “jannat” back to Kashmir. The formation of map of India was highly appreciated.

Bhavan Vidyalaya

With a great sense of pride and enthusiasm, Independence Day was celebrated by students of Classes LKG to II at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula. Children presented a mélange of activities. They presented a colourful programme, including patriotic songs, dance and poems. Teachers explained the significance of the National Flag and the National Anthem. Principal Shashi Banerjee asked the students to respect their motherland.

Jainendra Public School

Jainendra Public School, Panchkula, celebrated Independence Day with fervour. The programme was inaugurated by Chief Secretary VK Jain and Satya Jain. On the occasion, various competitions and activities were held. Kindergarten students were dressed in Tricolor. They paid tributes to freedom fighters. A dish-making competition was also held. Students of Classes I to III participated in the kite-making competition while Class IV students made decorative pieces. Principal Sudha Babbar motivated the students to make efforts for peace and prosperity of the country.

DAV Senior Public School

Students of DAV Senior Public School, Surajpur, participated in week-long celebrations held to commemorate 70th Independence Day. An inter-house fancy dress competition was applauded by all. Students attired as martyrs presented a cultural bonanza. Another attraction was the inter-house bulletin board competition. A rally was also conducted in the senior wing by the staff and students, protesting against child labour. Principal Mamta Goel urged the students to shun at least one bad habit.

Blue Bird High School

Students of Blue Bird High School, Sector 16, Panchkula, celebrated Independence Day with fervour. A special programme was organised on the occasion. The National Flag was hoisted, which was followed by the National Anthem. Speeches were delivered, highlighting the role of freedom fighters. Tiny tots of the primary section exhibited their spirit of patriotism by enacting different roles of freedom fighters and those of junior wing spoke on the importance of national symbols. A skit, based on patriotism, was highly appreciated.

Saint Soldier’s School

Saluting the nation and its freedom fighters on 70th Independence Day, Saint Soldier’s School, Sector 16, Panchkula, celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm. Chief Guest Air Vice-Marshal GS Bhogal graced the occasion.

Mohali Public School

Mohali Public School, Phase X, celebrated Independence Day on its premises. A special assembly was organised to mark the day. The events began with a drawing competition and inter-house declamation contest followed by various cultural activities. A skit on national integration was presented by Class X students. Junior students sang patriotic songs. The management committee the school appreciated students’ efforts. Secretary-cum-manager Nanak Singh, principal Kulwant Kaur and school coordinator Savita Mishra spoke on the importance of the day.

Col VR Mohan DAV Public School

Junior wing students of Col VR Mohan DAV Public School, Dera Bassi, took an active part in a fancy dress competition held to celebrate Independence Day. Tiny Tots wore colourful dresses on the occasion. The arrangements for the day were made by pre-primary teachers. School principal applauded efforts of the students.

Saupin’s School

The pre-primary wing of Saupin’s School,Mohali, celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervour. The little ones came dressed as different freedom fighters as a tribute to them. They sang patriotic songs and were shown many documentaries, depicting the importance of the day and the national symbols of the country. — TNS
