The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) of Panjab University, which has one of the richest libraries not only in terms of funds but also in terms of collection of books, is going to install security sensor gates at the entry point of the library for security reasons. The proposal is already in the pipeline for implementation.
Another issue which is also being considered to facilitate the students of the department is a photocopy machine inside the library. Earlier, the facility was available in the library but was later discontinued.
Assistant librarian Rajnesh Arora said, “These two issues are under consideration of the department and soon action will be taken to implement it on the ground.”
The UILS department library, which is equipped with a hi-tech computer section, is not only popular among the students of the department but also among the advocates, students of laws, BA and BCom on the campus. The students of other departments also use the library to access the documents or books which they require.
To facilitate self-study by the students with their own books, the department converts the moot court hall into an outer reading section, especially during the examination days.
