Forty faculty members of NIILM university, Kaithal, today submitted their resignation to Vice Chancellor in protest against non-payment of dues for three months. However, they said they would cooperate with the administration and extend their services till the ongoing exams were over.
NIILM university is under fire from the students, teaching and non-teaching staff for non-issuance of roll numbers and payment of salaries, respectively.
The students have been agitating for issuance of roll numbers since their annual exams start from May 8. The teaching and non-teaching staff are also up in arms since their salaries have not been paid for the last three months.
After failing to get any response from the varsity management, the aggrieved students and staff members have sought the intervention of the district administration in this context.
A deputation met City Magistrate Reegan Kumar here recently who assured that the needful would be done.
Computer teachers Harpreet and Anuradha said the varsity officials were not responding to their phone calls, e- mails and messages.
When this reporter tried to contact the university registrar and other officials this evening their mobiles were switched off.
The teachers said that the university authorities had assured them that their arrears would be cleared by May 6 but it has not been done.
Meanwhile, the fate of hundreds of students, including foreigners, remains uncertain. The LLB exams will be held on May 8 and those of B.Tech on May 12 but their roll numbers have not been issued.
Students said that the state and Centre should immediately interne and save their future.
