Thirteen students from the Aveda Institute located at Colorado, Arizona and Utah, USA, visited the Ayurvedic centre of the Himalayan Institute Hospital to experience ayurvedic and panchkarma treatments and to deepen their knowledge on ayurveda.
Helga Heffner, Manager of Aveda Corporation, an internationally renowned professional and beauty brand with salons and spas around the world, brought students to connect them with the Himalayan tradition. It was Swami Rama, founder of Himalayan hospital, who had introduced the Indian heritage of yoga and ayurveda to Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher that transformed his life.
The students, who are basically trained by Aveda for two years as therapists, are receiving ayurvedic therapies, understanding the basic principles of ayurveda and studying yoga practices. Prof Ravindra Kumar Mamgain and Prof Pratibha Mamgain, Ayurvedic consultants at the Himalayan Institute Hospital, taught the students about the basics of ayurvedic medicine, panchkarma and various therapies to ensure the health and well-being of self as well as the clients opting for ayurvedic treatments.
The Aveda institute plans to send more students to the Ayurveda Centre at Swami Rama Himalayan University. The group were delighted to share the enriching experience and appreciated the learning during their stay at the Ayurvedic centre. The group on the completion of their training on Tuesday thanked Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU).
Helga Heffner and therapists Carmen Yvette Fisher, Meaghan Laura Isaac, Lacy Louise Wurster, Lani McCall Fischer, Naomi Dove, Grace Linn Henniger, Jessica Ann Curry, Heather Elliott, Natessa Hansen, Sariah Jane Lee, Taryn Beth Wakefield, Veronica Rose Deniz and Karling Cosca look forward to come again to the Ayurvedic centre.
