Moreover, the fee, too, will be deposited online either through banks or post offices.

The last date for admission without late fee is August 26 and the interested students should visit the website http://usoladmissions.puchd.ac.in/home.aspx.

On the occasion, VC Grover expressed his satisfaction on the venture and said he wished that all activities of the USOL go computerised.

Congratulating the team, DUI Dinesh Gupta expressed the need of incorporating the element of ‘e-learning’ in the system.

USOL chairperson Yojana Rawat reiterated that all the courses being offered by the USOL were recognised by the UGC’s Distance Education Bureau. She informed that at present, all the courses at the USOL, except two certificate courses, follow semester system. The USOL also caters to more than 20,000 students in every academic session, she added.

The data entry unit of the university under the leadership of Mamta and Neeraj, who prepared the software, gave a demonstration on the ease of submitting the admission-cum-examination form to the USOL. Notably, now the students in the USOL will be filling both admission and examination forms in one go, thereby saving their time.

Another hallmark of the software, for which the concept has been developed by Prof Ravi K Mahajan, is that now there will be minimal fee defaulters in the process as a separate fee challan for each student shall be automatically generated by the computer in the light of `admissible fee concessions’ made available to them as per various categories such as that for the SC/ST or the like.
