WELCOME PARTY

Ludhiana: Police DAV Public School organised a welcome party for nursery class students. Children came dressed in colourful attires. Various activities and games were organised. The main attraction was 'Mickey Mouse bouncy'. The children took part in dance and enthralled the audience. Parents appreciated the teachers for making the event a success.

MOVIES ON SOCIAL ISSUES

Movies were screened at Sri Guru Hargobind Public Senior Secondary School, Thakkarwal, to make students aware of social issues. Primary wing students were shown 'Chaar Sahibzaade' and senior wing was shown 'Ardas'. GS Ahluwalia, president and Manjit Singh Walia, chairman, appreciated the efforts of the principal to make spread awareness on social evils, such as drug addiction and female foeticide, among students. Principal Suman Arora said such socio-religious movies played a vital role in inculcating moral values in students.

POETRY RECITATION

Guru Nanak Public School held a poetry recitation competition for classes VI and VII. Students recited poems of well-known poets in English and Punjabi. The recitals excelled in rhythm, mood, diction and expression. Principal Mona Singh said poetry recitation developed communication skills among students. She congratulated the participants for good selection of poems.

INVESTITURE

Green Land Convent School, Civil City, held its investiture for the 2016-17 session. The ceremony began with the school prayer. Principal Alka Mahajan conferred badges and sashes on the elected students. The new student council took an oath to carry out their duties faithfully. Principal Alka Mahajan congratulated the elected prefects.

RABBIT FEEDING DAY

Cherubs the Preschool, Dugri, celebrated Rabbit Feeding Day. Kids fed carrots to the rabbits on campus. The activity was organised to teach children about farm animals. The students were told to take care of animals and be compassionate towards them.

INSTALLATION CEREMONY

Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur, held its investiture for the session 2016-17. Bhupinder Singh Saran, president, conferred the badges on the office bearers in the presence of principal Ravi Kant and vice-principal Prabhjot Grewal. Harmander Singh and Sukhmandeep Kaur were appointed Head Boy and Head Girl. Japneet Kaur, Gursharan Singh and Gurkaran Singh were made Sports Captains. The student council took the oath of office. 

COLOURS' DAY CELEBRATED 

GGN Public School, Rose Garden, celebrated Colours' Day to familiarise children with various colours and their importance. The children of classes nursery, LKG, UKG participated in the celebration. They came in colourful attires. They brought different articles, like balloons, bangles, geometry boxes, chart papers of various colours. They were made to identify the colour of these items. 

INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY

DCM Presidency School celebrated International Dance Day, wherein a special assembly was conducted by students of the 'Performing Arts Club'. Students presented a dance and recited a poem. 'Boogie Woogie' dance competition was also organised for juniors.

SANATAN VIDYA MANDIR SEN. SEC. SCHOOL

Sanatan Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Deep Nagar, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised a poetry recitation compition for higher classes and the primary wing on the school premises. Chief Guest and judges of the day Sonia and Sushil Tondon were given floral welcome by President, Rajesh Kashyap, Manager Harish Sachdeva and Principal Sadhana Sharma. The function started with the illumination of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guests. Participants showcased their talent by reciting humorous, patriotic poems and those based on current issues such as saving water and environment, eradicating social evils such as female foeticide, terrorism, demand for dowry, corruption among others. The students recited poems in a very impressive manner. They fiercely contested in the competition with their spectacular talent and outstanding confidence.— TNS
