Welham Girls’ School overall fest champ

Welham Girls’ School, Dehradun, were declared the overall champion of the annual cultural fest ‘Milestone’ organised by St George’s College in Mussoorie today. Hopetown Girls’ School and St Jude’s School, both from Dehradun, bagged the second and third places, respectively.

The event commenced with a welcome speech by principal of St George’s College Bro Tony Verghese.

Kiran Dubey, an eminent film and television personality from Mumbai, inaugurated the function by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Students from more than 12 schools of Mussoorie and Dehradun participated in the competitions. The contests were held in dumb shiraz, photography, quiz, arts, singing and dance. In the expression in tandem category, Hopetown Girls’ School, Unison World School, St Jude’s School and Welham Girls’ School were adjudged first, second, third and fourth, respectively.

In the quiz competition, Army Public School, St Joseph’s Academy and Welham Girls’ School were adjudged first, second and third, respectively. In the synthesis competition, Hopetown Girls’ School, Welham Girls’ School and St Joseph’s Academy were declared first, second and third, respectively.

In black sticks and coloured dreams art competitions, St Joseph’s Academy, Summer Valley School and Welham Girls’ School stood first second and third, respectively.

In the choreography contest, RIMC School, St Joseph’s Academy and St Jude’s school were declared first second and third respectively. Welham Girls’ School were declared the overall champion. The event concluded with prize distribution, followed by a vote of thanks by Bro Tomy Verghese. He said co-curricular activities were important as they helped a person in one way or the other. John Nanda, Brother Naveen and others school staff members were present on the occasion.
