Mohali, March 4
The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has roped in Panjab University experts to conduct a ‘social impact survey’ in the process of acquisition of around 5,000 acres for the extension of its pilot residential project, Aerocity, here.
The PU team would work on the modalities of rehabilitation of residents of villages, where land would be acquired under the process.
Talking to Chandigarh Tribune, GMADA Chief Administrator Ravi Bhagat said under the plan, they (GMADA) were going to extend Aerocity by acquiring around 5,000 acres of more land.
The land belongs to around eight villages — Bakarpur, Narayangarh, Matram, Bari, Kishanpura, Siaun, Patton and Kurari.
Bhagat said there would be no forced acquisition for the project.
“We would go for land pooling scheme for the same,” said the Chief Administrator.
He said most of the land owners were ready to give their properties to GMADA under the scheme.
“Our teams have already talked to them in this regard,” he said.
On being questioned about the completion of developmental works in Aerocity, Bhagat claimed that all the developmental works in the first phase had been completed.
“A number of people have started residing in Aerocity while construction of several other houses is on there,” Bhagat said.
He said GMADA had been providing 24X7 drinking water supply in the area.
“Our projects, Aerocity and IT City, are the first ones in the district where facility of 24X7 drinking water supply is being provided,” Bhagat added.
