Amritsar, February 24
The shooting of upcoming Bollywood movie based on the life of slain Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh was stalled again, this time at Wagah border for the want of permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The key sequence of Sarbjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur along with her husband and Sarbjit’s wife and daughters arguing with the Pakistan authorities at the Attari-Wagah border to cross over to Pakistan to meet Sarabjit in a Lahore jail was to be shot, but the BSF did not allow it.
Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is portraying the role of Dalbir Kaur, who fought for her brother’s release. Sarabjit was awarded death sentence, but was killed in an attack in the jail in 2013.
It is learnt that film producer Sandeep Singh had sought permission from the BSF authorities in January. The latter had forwarded the request letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
BSF DIG, Amritsar Sector, Sumer Singh said since they were yet to hear from the Centre, they could not allow the shooting at the Attari-Wagah border.
Dalbir Kaur has urged the Union Home Ministry to take a sympathetic view and give permission to resume the shoot.
