35-yr-old man commits suicide in Sector 23

Chandigarh, January 11

A 35-year-old man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Sector 23, this evening.

Sources said the victim, had been identified, as Satish Shukla. The victim’s mother on reaching home found that Satish had bolted the door of his room. Despite knocking, when he did not open the door, she called the neighbours. The door was broken to make an entry. The police were then informed.

The victim was rushed to the Government Multi Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 where doctors declared him brought dead. An inquest proceeding has been initiated in the matter at the Sector 17 police station. The postmortem will be conducted on Thursday.
