SP Singh, chairman of the Sardar Bhagwan Singh Postgraduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences and Research, Balawala, today distributed 500 Mahua saplings to Ravi Das Mandir Balawala, Vijaylok Colony, Durga Mandir, Nakronda Gram Sabha, Gurdwara Sahib Majri Grant, Shiv Mandir Nathuwala.
The institute has planned to continue with the mission of “Gift a tree” and distribute one lakh trees all over the state.
In 2015, SP Singh had presented five Mahua trees to Chief Minister Harish Rawat whose earnest desire to plant Mahua saplings at religious places, schools /colleges, old age homes and Ram Kusht Ashram Home. The tree will be given free of cost to one and all.
Forest Minister Dinesh Agarwal inaugurated the “Gift a tree” programme during Harela celebrations. The Mahua seeds were brought from the FRI, Jabalpur, and grown up in the nursery of the institute. Over 35,000 saplings have been grown till date. The Mahua tree has medicinal value and can be used for other commercial value items viz: jam, pickles etc.
Zila panchayat member Pushpa Barthwal, Balawala gram pradhan Shabnam Thapa, BDC member Dhanveer Rana, former BDC member Chatrapal, former Doiwala junior block pramukh Anoop Dobhal, Govind Singh, Nakronda former pradhan Rajan Panwar, Vinod Rawat, Laxman Singh Negi, Gauri Ramol and Sudhershan Sajwan were present on the occasion.
