Top seed Aakarshi Kashyap defeated third ranked Purva Barve 21-9 21-11 to book a berth in the girls’ U-17 final in the ongoing 25th Smt. Krishna Khaitan All-India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament at the Panjab University here today.
Aakarshi will play fourth seed Unnati Bisht for the title. Unnati edged out Malvika Bansod 21-14 6-21 21-19 in a closely contested semifinal match.
In the boys’ U-17 semifinals, fifth seed Aman Farogh Sanjay outlasted Andhra Pradesh’s Jaswanth D 21-16 13-21 21-15, while Rohan Gurbani registered a 22-20 17-21 21-18 win over Pavan Krishna Thokala.
In the boys’ U-17 doubles, second seed pair of Qadeer Moinuddin Mohammed and Vishnuvardhan Goud P will square off with Aman Raikwar and Yash Raikwar in the final tomorrow.
In the semifinals today, Raikwar brothers defeated Mayur Chowhan and Amit Rathore 21-10 21-12, while Qadeer and Vishnuvardhan beat Sai Rohit and Akash Chandran 21-13 13-21 23-21.
Ashwini Bhat K and Mithula UK beat Srishti Jupudi and Preethi K 21-10 21-12 in the girls’ U-17 doubles semifinals, while Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker overcame Unnati Bisht and Aakarshi Kashyap 21-13 21-9.
In boys’ U-19 category, top seed Mithun M defeated Jaswanth D 21-15 21-19 to set the title clash with Kanishq M, who
blanked Kaustubh Rawat 21-9 21-14.
In the girls’ U19 semifinals, Shikha Gautam drubbed Anura Prabhudesai 21-14 21-13,
while Aakarshi Kashyap beat Riya Mookerjee 21-17 21-13.
