Chandigarh, July 15
Chandigarh golfer Adilbir Singh won the 36-hole Albatross Tournament that concluded at the Jaypee Greens Golf Course in Greater Noida today.
With a nine stroke lead over his closest opponent, Adilbir overcame rain and humid conditions to card a six-over-par 76 in the first round and a 73 in the second round seal the first spot with a total of seven-over-par 151.
“I was very confident in the first round, knowing that I could handle the harsh conditions. The humidity was around 87 percent, when the sky opened up, the sun was scorching, making it extremely hot and humid," said the youngster.
The second round was even tougher for the local golfer but he used the experience from the first round to card a brilliant one-over-par under testing conditions.
“We had similar playing conditions in the second round, probably tougher, as the golf course was very slushy. I had to complete the last three holes in heavy rain," he adds.
Harindra Gupta wins
Harindra Gupta won the second edition of the Pro Pool tournament — a unique initiative by a handful of professional golfers from Chandigarh and Panchkula — at the Chandigarh Golf Course today. In an entertaining final where Harindra Gupta and Zubin were tied at five-under-par 67, Gupta clinched the title with a birdie in the playoff under extreme pressure.
Gupta’s tournament-winning experience helped him prevail over his opponent.
