A meeting of the State Advisory Board for the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PNDT) Act was held here. The meeting reviewed the progress regarding the sex ratio in Punjab and discussed how to tighten the noose around violators. It also reviewed the enforcement of the Act and decided to constitute teams at the state level for surprise inspection of ultrasound scan centres.

The Director, Health Services (Family Welfare), Dr HS Bali, said he had directed the civil surgeons to intensify the campaign against erring centres. He issued special instructions to the Civil Surgeon, Moga, to file a case against an ultrasound centre that was allegedly caught violating the law last weekend.
