After an unprecedented success of his first-ever micro movie launched in the state titled “Honesty Is The Best Policy” which won several accolades, local lad Sunil Kataria will come up soon with his next production, highlighting the nexus between politics and drugs cartel.

The movie will be ready in the next two months. “My films are small, however, they carry a big message,” said Sunil, during the recent screening of his film at his native place here. He said the menace of drugs had assumed alarming proportion in the state and it needed to be checked.

Though the government and the police are doing their duty to prevent this scourge from further spreading its tentacles in the state, however, as a common man, it’s our duty also to make efforts to check this menace which has brought infamy to this land of five rivers.

Just like my first micro film, which conveyed multi-pronged message on flip side of technology besides how the younger generation perceived “honesty”, the new movie will also be short, simple and straight, said Sunil, who earlier worked as an anchor with Doordarshan.

It is pertinent to mention that Sunil’s micro movie “Honesty is the Best Policy” has already been screened at various prestigious platforms, including International Film Festival of South Asia and Punjabi International Film Festival at Toronto in Canada, besides at AUSINDEFEST at Sydney in Australia.

Sunil, who belongs to this border town, is also doing research work on film promotion trends. “There are many directors who have inspired me but people like Anurag Basu, Anurag Kashyap and Gurwinder Singh (Punjabi movie ‘Anne Ghode Da Daan’ fame) have been the motivational force for me,” said Sunil, adding he wants to create something which impacts the life of the people positively, and not leave negative influence on them.

While talking to The Tribune, Sunil said there was a lot of talent in this area, adding that though, the youngsters here have dream in their eyes but they are unable to find avenues to realise those dreams. “I would like to help them find avenues and realize those dreams,” he said.
