The Akhil Bharatiya Shiv Sena has started preparations for the 2017 Assembly poll in the state. A seven-member state-level committee has been formed to monitor the district, town, ward and block-level units.
Bhuvnesh Kumar Sharma, general secretary, Akhil Bharatiya Shiv Sena, said as per directives of national president Sunil Tangdi, new executive bodies were being formed in Uttarakhand. Three months have been given for the formation of the units.
“The Akhil Bharatiya Shiv Sena is focusing on the Assembly elections with a larger perspective. The party wants its presence felt in the elections. Both the Congress and the BJP have failed to provide development-oriented governance, so people are looking for an alternative, which the Akhil Bharatiya Shiv Sena can provide. The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and the communist parties too have failed to live up to the expectations of people,” said Bhuvnesh.
Accepting the fact that the party failed to become a major political force in the state, he added that due to factionalism proved detrimental to the interests of the party.
He said there was some confusion among the voters as they were linking the party to the Shiv Sena (Maharashtra). “The Akhil Bharatiya Shiv Sena is a separate entity with its base in northern India. We had a tie-up with the Shiv Sena in 80’s but in 1991 both the parties parted ways.
