Amar Shaheed Society honours kin of martyrs

The Amar Shaheed Sukhdev Welfare Society honoured kin of martyrs and freedom fighters during a function at Guru Nanak Bhawan here today.
Family members of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Chander Shekhar Azad, Mangal Pandey and Shaheed Udham Singh were awarded on the occasion.
Besides, relatives of Capt Fateh Singh, Gursewak Singh and Kulwant Singh, who died in the Pathankot and Dinanagar terror attacks, were also awarded on the occasion.
A patriotic programme was organised by as many as 400 students of various schools. They performed choreographies and plays on patriotic themes.
Actors and artistes of silver screen, including Sunil Prabhakar, Dr Santosh Rai, Mukesh Sharma, Deepak Raja, Banwari Johal and Ashu Punjabi, performed on the occasion.
Meanwhile, politician Master Mohan Lal, Gurdeep Gosha and several industrialists from the city were also present.
Master Mohan Lal paid tributes to the martyrs and gave a call to follow their footsteps.
Vishal Nayer, president of Amar Shaheed Sukhdev Welfare Society, said, “We have awarded 150 families of freedom fighters.”
Also, a play was performed on the life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev which left the audience teary-eyed.
