Jammu, July 3
BJP national president Amit Shah will interact with block and district-level workers of the state to get feedback on the performance of the BJP ministers in the PDP-led coalition government.
Amit Shah’s first meeting with BJP workers from J&K has been fixed on July 12 in Delhi. National general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal will be present at the meeting.
Sources said the BJP high command had taken note of the reports that party ministers in the coalition were ignoring genuine workers and giving importance to family members and friends. They said a majority of the BJP MLAs had also expressed their displeasure over the functioning of BJP ministers in the coalition.
“The feedback received by BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav on the performance of BJP ministers was not so encouraging so the high command wants to establish direct contact with grass-roots level workers to get progress report on the functioning of the government,” a source said.
The July 12 meeting is important because for the first time after the formation of the PDP-BJP government in the state, the BJP national president has decided to interact with grass-roots level workers, the source added.
“At the proposed meeting, workers will be given adequate opportunity to air their grievances before the national president,” a source said. The party leaders have been asked to ensure participation of all block and district-level leaders at the July 12 meeting, the source added.
Sources said some of the MLAs and leaders of the Sangh Parivar had conveyed their feeling to the high command about the arrogant behaviour of some of the party ministers, who, according to them, were giving more importance to their family friends instead of committed party leaders.
A meeting of the office-bearers of the party was held today to discuss organisational matters. All senior leaders were present at the meeting in which a strategy was devised to make the organisation vibrant and to keep a check on the party ministers who have become more powerful than the party.
