Chandigarh: PML SD Public School celebrated its annual prize distribution function of the primary and middle wing on Sunday. KK Sharma, Chairman-cum-Manager, welcomed the chief guest, LV Sehgal, Principal, Bal Bharti Public School, New Delhi. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a colorful spectacular extravaganza. To begin with, blessings of Lord Ganesha were invoked. It was followed by a number of scintillating dance performances by schoolchildren who performed with great zeal, excitement and confidence. Aerobics and Rajasthani dance were appreciated by one and all. The school Principal, Monica Sharma, presented the annual report highlighting the achievements of the school in scholastic and co-scholastic areas for academic year 2014-2015. LV Sehgal gave away prizes to the achievers who brought laurels to the institution. Students scoring 95 per cent and above were also given Rs 5,000 each. Utkarsh Saraswat and Rhythm Mahajan of Class XII (Science and Commerce) were felicitated as the all-rounder in their respective streams.
Annual day celebrated
Mohali: The annual day of SKY World School was celebrated with fervour and zeal at Tagore Theatre in Sector 18, Chandigarh. Students from classes III and VI, along with the head of the administration, presented the school report.
Annual sports day
Lawrence Public Senior Secondary School, here, celebrated its 32nd annual sports day with zeal and enthusiasm. The day began by seeking the blessings of the almighty with beautifully synchronised Ganesh Vandana. To enliven the sports event, the Olympic torch was lit by the sports achiever. Later, the chief guest declared the sports meet open.
Youth parliament
The sixth youth parliament was organised at Shemrock Senior Secondary School, Sector 69, Mohali. Around 100 students from classes IX and X participated in the youth parliament. The event began with the oath ceremony of the members.
Cricket match
Panchkula: Dikshant International School organised a cricket match between its staff members’ team and parents’ team at the cricket ground of DAV School, Sector 8. The parents’ team won the cricket match by 33 runs.
Model UN conference
Holy Child School conducted the Model United Nations (MUN) conference. More than 100 student delegates from various classes participated in the three-day event held at the school auditorium. — TNS
