Another wave of thunderstorm, hail to hit state

Uttarakhand is all set experience another wave of thunder squall and hailstorm in the next 24 hours.
Indian Meteorological Department Dehradun office on Sunday issued an alert for thunder squall at isolated places in the state. The IMD forecast held that thunder squall with speed reaching 70-80 kmph and gusting upto 90 kmph is likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Pithoragarh and Champawat districts of Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours starting from Sunday night. Further, hailstorm is also likely to occur at isolated places in hills of Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours starting from Sunday night.
Moreover, during period from May 14 to May 17, forecast is for partly to generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain or thunderstorm at a few places in the state.
While the thunder squall and hailstorm are likely to bring down temperatures, it is also expected to damage mango and litchi crops in the plain district of the state. Though, rains would also help in controlling forest fires that rages at its peak during months of May and June.
