Chandigarh, March 24
Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu, who is also the president of the Haryana Archery Association, has said that Haryana would host the three-day 37th Senior National Archery Championship at Faridabad from March 27.
Capt Abhimanyu, who was interacting with mediapersons here yesterday, said it was for the first time that a national archery championship was being held in Haryana and that too as a part of its Golden Jubilee year celebrations.
He said about 25-30 teams from across the country would participate in the championship. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would be the chief guest at the opening ceremony on March 27 whereas Krishan Pal, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, and Anil Kamneni, Secretary-General, Archery Association of India, would be the guests of honour. He said Vipul Goel, Industries Minister, would be the chief guest at the medal ceremony on March 28 whereas Poonam Mahajan, MP, would be chief guest on the concluding day on March 29.
He said Haryana has among top three states in the country in archery. Players of the state had won 12 medals at 37th Sub-Junior Archery Championship held at Bhubaneswar. — TNS
