Arms recovered from gangster Amit Bhura

The police claimed to have recovered some weapons from notorious gangster Amit Malik (alias Bhura), who was arrested by the CIA, Patiala, on Saturday. Bhura, wanted by the police in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Uttarakhand, had a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head.
According to Patiala SSP Gurmeet Chauhan, Bhura was arrested along with his accomplice Sachin Khokar and by a police team headed by SP(D) Jaskiranjit Singh Teja and CIA, Patiala, in charge Bikramjit Singh Brar. “The arrested gang members have 61 cases of murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, looting and robbery registered against them,” he said.
Chauhan said Sachin Khokar, alias Sonu, tried to bang their SUV into the police vehicle and tried to escape when they were signalled to stop at a police naka near Bahadurgarh.
More than 300 policemen from Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi had set up a special investigation team while Uttrakhand and Uttar Pradesh governments had declared Rs 5 lakh reward each on Bhura. The police seized a 9mm pistol with six live cartridges from Bhura.
Bhura was arrested in 2014 in connection with an August 5 shootout outside the Roorkee jail in which three members of the Cheenu Pandit gang were killed. During Bhura’s escape, two members of the gang sat in the tempo that the police team had taken to reach Baghpat court from Tatiri Mandi. Along the way, three persons in an SUV intercepted the vehicle and fired in the air. Two persons present in the tempo sprayed pepper powder in the eyes of the policemen. In the ensuing confusion, Bhura escaped with two AK-47 assault rifles and an INSAS rifle of the police team.
