Army Major dies during training exercise in R’sthan
Jaipur, September 23
A 32-year-old Army Major died in a mishap during a training exercise in western sector, near the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan.
Major Dhruv Yadav belonged to the Armoured Unit which was engaged in a routine training exercise near Pokhran in Jaisalmer district for past some days, defence spokesperson (Rajasthan) Lt Col Manish Ojha said.
“Last night, during the exercise, he died following an accident,” he said without elaborating. “An inquiry has been ordered into the incident,” Ojha added. Yadav, who was from Gurgaon, is survived by his wife. — PTI
Gloom descends on Major’s locality in Gurgaon
Gurgaon:Palam Vihar in Gurgaon plunged into gloom as news about Major Dhruv Yadav being killed in an accident during a firepower demonstration in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district spread here. In his late twenties, the Major’s wife was reportedly eight-month pregnant. Dhruv, who had been living along with his family in Palam Vihar for the past 15 years, was married two years ago. The body is expected to reach here tomorrow from Jaisalmer. Major Dhruv’s neighbour, Zile Singh, said: “You can imagine the family’s state of mind. The victim’s relatives have started pouring in but they are too shocked to talk or say anything.”
Dhruv, son of Wing Commander Rajbir Yadav, was hit by a splinter from an artillery shell during a demonstration at the Pokhran range last evening. — Sumedha Sharma
