Army team leaves for Mt Kanamo

Dehradun, September 4

Maj Gen MS Ghura, GoC, Golden Key Division, flagged off a mountaineering expedition team of Golden Key Division to Mount Kanamo (5,974 m) today.

The expedition is aimed at highlighting nationalism and ability of gallant soldiers of the Army to take on challenges and adventure in the difficult terrain of the Himalayas.

The expedition is being organised to familiarise the people living in Himalayan valleys about the role, contribution, traditions and valour of the Army.

Besides exposing troops to the varied flora and fauna of the Himalayan region, the expedition will impart high-altitude mountaineering training to young soldiers and prepare them to undertake operations.
