Pauri Garhwal MP BC Khanduri has expressed concern at discontinuation of Garhwal Express for three months due to foggy conditions.
Khanduri, in a letter to Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu, said there was no point in suspending the operation of Garhwal Express for three months as it would cause great inconvenience to the people of the state. “Any decision not to run Garhwal Express should be on a day-to-day basis, depending on the fog situation,” said Khanduri. Garhwal Express, that runs between New Delhi and Kotdwar in Garhwal, is used by a large number of serving defence personnel from the state and its discontinuation would inconvenience them the most.
The MP has also spoken to Pradeep Kumar, General Manager, Northern Railways, and SK Pathak, Assistant General Manager, Northern Railways, in this regard.
