Ashoka University’s Centre for Entrepreneurship hosted the inaugural edition of the Ashoka Pillar Award, to select and award young talent for their innovative solutions to tackle the worsening air quality in India on September 18 in Sonepat.



Ashoka University’s Centre for Entrepreneurship hosted the inaugural edition of the Ashoka Pillar Award, to select and award young talent for their innovative solutions to tackle the worsening air quality in India on September 18 in Sonepat. The winners included Eklavya Singh for EZ-Harv designed as a solution for the prevention of stubble burning. He got prize money of Rs 6.5 lakh. The second prize was won by Twinkle Malhan and Aadesh Pratap Singh for the The Aerohealer which uses aeroponics technology and the Aloe Vera plant for air purification.They got a sum of Rs 1.8  lakh. Rohit Rawat was awarded the third prize worth Rs 1.4 lakh for the Green Air, an innovative bio-tech air-filter to quantifiably improve air quality.  

The Ashoka Pillar Award creates a platform for young minds by crowdsourcing ideas, which then leads to crowdsourcing funds for the winning idea, all of which uses the global network to solve problems for those living on the margin. This year entrepreneurs were asked to propose innovative and cost-effective solutions for air pollution. The jury members who evaluated the final six pitches included Anita Manwani, CEO, Carobar Business Solutions, Founder and Trustee, Ashoka University, Bikram Phookun, Prof. of Physics, Ashoka University and Meghna Agarwala, Asst Prof. of Environmental Studies, Ashoka University.

Career guidance for students

NIIT Limited is organising Career Quest in Delhi/ NCR till September 29 to help youngsters find their dream career  through expert on-ground counselling by NIIT across colleges.  NIIT’s expert counsellor will interact with students and help them to find a career best suited for them based on their aspirations and aptitude. Post the completion of the activities the students will be given career guides to help them identify and explore various career options.

Through Career Quest NIIT will expose students to new-age career programmes in Digital marketing, Data Analytics, IT, banking and Finance & Accounting and Business Analytics. Earlier this year, NIIT launched aspirational career programmes matching the future-ready talent requirements of the industry with ambitions of the generation next. These programs include, Advanced Programme in Digital Marketing and Branding, Advanced Programme in Data Analytics and Predictive Modelling, Advanced Program in Full Stack Software Engineering, Advanced Programme in Banking and Finance and Advanced Programme in Accounting & Business Analytics.

IIM Indore wins NTPC Electron Quiz National  

IIM Indore team emerged as winner in the NTPC Electron Quiz National Finals 2018 that concluded on September 18, 2018 at PMI Campus. IIT Kanpur and NIT Rourkela secured second and third positions, respectively. 

The finale saw close competition with teams battling it out for the title till the very end. Samyak Ponangi & Shaurya Saxena from IIM Indore won NTPC Electron Quiz National Finals 2018 with a leading score of 131, Pradunma Choudhury & Anshul Roy from IIT Kanpur came second with a score of 122 and Swayambodha Mohapatra & Abhishek Patra from NIT Rourkela finished with a score of 108.

This year, the NTPC Electron Quiz, generated an increased level of interest amongst students across India and witnessed unprecedented rise in participation. About 800 teams from leading institutes having 1,500 students participated in this year’s competition.
