Thirteen-year-old flautist Suleman, winner of India’s Got Talent-7, wants to carve a niche for himself in the music industry. He is keenly learning classical notes from the maestro, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.

Suleman was named the winner last night after being voted the best by the viewers of the TV show. He received prize money of Rs 50 lakh.

His father, Suresh Pal, who teaches the flute, the harmonium and the guitar at various colleges in the city, said Suleman and his sister Karuna (8) had been playing musical instruments since the age of three.

“Suleman is also good at the guitar and the tabla. He sings classical songs while playing the harmonium,” said Suresh.

Since the announcement of Suleman as the winner, relatives, friends and mediapersons have been visiting his residence at Tung Bala area on the Majitha road.

Suresh said he would use the prize money to ensure that Suleman stayed longer in Mumbai to hone his skills from Chaurasia.

The boy’s mother, Voilet, who plays the harmonium, is a housewife. She wants her children not to lose focus on their studies while perfecting their talent.
