Bhagavad Gita translated into Dogri

A local retired English lecturer, Ram Kishen Sharma, has translated Bhagavad Gita into Dogri verse.

“This is my maiden book and is yet to be formally released. I expect it to hit the book stores of Jammu province and Himachal Pradesh soon. I hope it becomes popular even among the local Hindu Dogras who have basic Dogri knowledge,” said Sharma.

Sharma had completed the translation of the book within six months in 2001 after he had conceived the idea in 2000. He revised it and decided to publish it after he retired as a lecturer from Higher Secondary School, Batote, in 2010.

A prolific Dogri writer, Sharma has written many Dogri poems and songs. He has also written articles for ‘Nami Chetna’ and ‘Shiraza’ magazines and Dogri Times and Jammu Prabhat dailies.

Earlier, Thakur Raghunath Singh Samyal had translated Gita into Dogri poetry and Prof Gauri Shankar had translated Gita into Dogri prose.
