Bhiwani hospital nursery best in state

Thanks to the efforts of doctors and state- of- the- art facilities for new born children at Bansi Lal Hospital, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) here has been ranked first in the state during a survey conducted under the National Quality Assurance Scheme.
Dr Mukta Kumar, in- charge of the unit, said, “It has all kinds of facilities from photo- therapy to transfusion pumps, monitors and ventilators for new born babies. Besides, liver function tests, culture sensitivity tests and blood exchange facilities are available for patients free of cost and they need not venture out for it,” she added.
High-end facilities like picc line, (a flexible tube for intravenous access) for new borns which are otherwise available at corporate hospitals in metro cities are available here. “On an average, around 90-100 babies get admitted every month with various ailments,”she said.
Lauding the role of the NICU staff, Chief Medical Officer Dr Randeep Singh Poonia said that the hospital was doing well on other parameters set by NQAS like operation theatre, IPD, blood bank and laboratory services.
NICU units, set under the National Rural Health Mission at Panchkula, was ranked second, followed by Ambala and Kaithal civil hospitals, respectively.
