Former Himachal Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition P K Dhumal and state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti have accused the government of large-scale irregularities in recruitments to government departments, board and corporations and said the “era of backdoor appointments is back”.

Demanding an impartial enquiry into alleged irregularities in recruitments, they said that information regarding irregularities in recruitments in education, forest, other departments and bank were pouring in.

Now Himachal Pradesh Tourism, Development Corporation (HPTDC) is appointing “utility workers” without following any procedure for accommodating favourites of ministers and members of Board of Directors, ignoring the claims of genuine and deserving persons, they added.

The BJP leaders also alleged that the government intended to bring a policy to regularise these appointees before the elections and said that the BJP would not accept any such move. Dhumal and Satti said the “countdown” of the present government had begun. Foreseeing that there was no scope of return to power, the Congress leaders are allegedly “looting” the state. Mining, land, forest, liquor and transfer mafias are flourishing under the protective wings of the government.

The educated unemployed youth waiting for jobs are feeling cheated by the government but the BJP would not let it happen and include these irregularities in the chargesheet and get it probed after coming to power, they stressed.
