Book of poems, songs and ghazals released
Ludhiana, March 20
Punjab Irrigation Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon released the book of Punjabi poet Sehajpreet Singh Mangat at a function held at the mini auditorium of Guru Nanak Bhawan, here today.
The book titled “Mera Yakeen Karin” consists of poems, songs and ghazals. Punjab Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon presided over the function.
Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, who was also present at the occasion, said the title of the book was enough to understand the crisis of the society.
During the function, Dr Guriqbal Singh, Prof Ravinder Bhathal, Dr Gulzar Pandher and Trailochan Lochi spoke at length on the book.
The presidium consisted of Dr Deepak Manmohan, former director, World Punjabi Centre. Prof Gurbhajan Gill, former president Punjabi Sahit Akademi talked about Sehajpreet’s journey.
Dr Sukhdev Singh Sirsa, president, Punjabi Sahit Akademi, said the writer touches the sensitivity of the society.
Mangat also recited some of his poems in front of the audience. Singer Kamaljit Neelon also recited some of the poems of Mangat.
The minister said Mangat’s poetry reflects his way of thinking and had been well received by a wide range of people. —TNS
