BPL consumers to get LED bulbs at less rates

State Forest and Sports Minister Dinesh Agarwal urged residents to work towards energy conservation. He was speaking at a function held at Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) sub-station at Niranjanpur to distribute LED bulbs to electricity consumers here today.
Agarwal said the LED bulbs distribution scheme launched by Chief Minister Harish Rawat on November 9 had gained popularity among people of the state. He said consumers in the state would get three LED bulbs with three years warranty on easy installments .
He said consumers can procure up to seven LED bulbs for Rs 100 each from the department.
Agarwal said below poverty line consumers would get an LED bulb for Rs 27.50 with the first installment of Rs 2.5, and the remaining amount would be paid in five equal installments of Rs 5 each.
The electricity consumers having consumption of up to 100 units per month would be given LED bulbs for Rs 82.50 per piece.
The consumers would have to pay Rs 7.5 as first installment, and the remaining amount would be paid in five equal installments of Rs 15 each. The installments would be added to their electricity bills.
He said UPCL officials had been instructed to take effective steps to disseminate LED bulbs to maximum number of electricity consumers in the state.
Atul Agarwal, SK Jain, Ashutosh Tiwari, Vinod Kumar and others were present in the function.
