BTech student drowns in Suyal river in Almora

A student of B.Tech at a Haldwani college drowned after he slipped into the Suyal river near the Vishwanath bridge in Almora town. His two companions who jumped into the river to save him were saved by the locals. “The student, Bhupendra Kumar (22), could not be saved while his two companions, Pankaj and Jitendra, were saved by villagers,” said Ganesh Manola, in charge of NTD police post in Almora town.

Khatima 
Four arrested for murdering realtor friend

The local police claimed to have solved the murder of a real estate trader near Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district. The police recovered the body of Suraj Singh Jyala from a septic tank near his house. After killing him brutally a week ago, the accused had thrown the body into the tank, Udham Singh Nagar SSP AS Takwale said. Jyala was murdered by his friends, who owed him Rs 1 crore,  near Khatima in US Nagar. According to the SSP, four of his companions arrested in the case had confessed to the murder.

Two batches of Kailash pilgrims return

The Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage is in progress without any interruption this year. Two batches of pilgrims returned to New Delhi after completing their yatra while the third batch has reached Almora, according to base camp sources at Dharchula. Besides,  two batches are in Tibet and two are on the trek route towards the Lipulekh pass.
