Cable TV operators told to finish digitisation work by next year

District Entertainment Officer Har Giri at a meeting held at the Uttarkashi district headquarters today directed cable operators to complete the digitisation work by December 31, 2015 in urban areas, and by December 31, 2016 in rural areas.
Additional District Magistrate BK Mishra chaired the meeting and discussions were held with cable operators on ways to distribute the set-top boxes for establishing the digital connection.
The cable operators informed the officials that they were facing difficulties while providing connection in the remote areas and often the cables that went through the forest were being cut by forest staff thus hindering the digitization process in the district and demanded the support of the district administration.
The cable operators also solicited funding through bank loans for digitisation process in the district. The ADM Uttarkashi assured the cable operators that he would consult the banks and try to provide some relief in the matter. Entertainment Officer Har Giri said if the cable operators failed in their duty then the consumers would not be able to watch cable television in their homes after December 31.
SDM Barkot RK Pandey, SDM Dunda Vijay Nath Shukl, District Disaster Management Officer Devendar Patwal, cable TV operator Naseem, Chain Singh Aswal and others were present on the occasion.
