Chamba to be open defecation-free by March-en

CHAMBA: Under the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, the Chamba district would be declared open defecation-free by March end.

Under the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, the Chamba district would be declared open defecation-free by March end.

 

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner of Chamba M Sudha Devi while presiding over a monthly review meeting of the block development officers (BDOs) today.

 

She disclosed that 90 per cent of the district had already been made open defection free.

 

A target of constructing 20,755 toilets in the district had been fixed under the campaign and so far 18,782 toilets had been constructed. The construction work on remaining toilets was underway, and would be completed soon she added.

 

Sudha Devi directed the block development officers of Pangi, Bharmour and Bhattiyat to accelerate the construction work of toilets in their respective areas and complete the work by February 25

 

Directing the officers of the Education Department, the DC said those schools which had so far not applied for the 'School Swachhata Puruskar Yojna' should do so by February 20 positively.

 

Among others, Additional District Magistrate Subh Karan Singh was also present in the meeting.
