Chaos rules the day in Dera Bassi

Residents were a harried lot as most ATMs at Dera Bassi remained non-functional today. Queues outside banks grew longer, so did confusion and chaos. They had to wait for hours to gets money for their daily expenses.
Most ATMs, including those of Allahabad Bank, State Bank of India, Dena Bank and the Bank of India are still not functional. Prachi Jain, manager, Allahabad Bank, said new currency notes were yet to be loaded in the ATM of the bank.
She said those responsible for it were busy loading cash in other ATMs of the bank. She said their ATM would be functional from 7 pm onwards.
Sudesh Kumar, a resident of Dera bassi said, “There is no cash in the machine. The authorities say cash will be available only after noon.”
Lakhbir Singh, another resident, said, “I am standing in the queue since 9 am. It is now 1 pm and still I am not sure whether I will be able to get my notes exchanged.”
Simranjeet Singh, manager, Bank of India, Dera Bassi, said the ATM of the bank likely to be functional till the evening.
