In the opening match of T20 Cricket Tournament to create awareness about eye donation, Livewire Coaching Centre (LWCC) defeated Mohali Cricket Club, Mohali, by 18 runs, at Divya Public School, Sector 44.
Mohali Cricket Club won the toss and invited LWCC to bat first. The side lost early wicket of skipper Arun Luthra, who was caught in the mid-wicket off Anish Kapoor, without opening his account. However, Amandeep Pannu (35 runs), Jaspal Singh (14 runs) and Abhishek Bhateja (13 runs) pushed the total further to stable the team’s innings. Later, supported by Ravi Atwal (12 runs) and Pankaj (11 runs) enabled LWCC to reach 111 for 7 in 20 overs. Anish Kapoor was the pick for the bolwing team after grabbing 4 for 14 while Anmol Sharma claimed 2 for 10.
On other hand, Mohali Club started off well and gathered 32 runs for the first wicket. Ankit (19 runs) and Navneet (14 runs) put Mohali Cricket Club ahead initially. However, quick loss of three wickets claimed by Pankaj put Mohali’s outfit on back foot. Later, Karan Thakur (4 for 24) wrecked Mohali’s innings and the side mustered on 93 runs in 18.5 overs. Pankaj of LWCC for his 3 for 4 returning figures was named as man of the match.
