RFC India veterans Kabir Waraich and Gurmeet Virdi and emerging off-roaders like Tejinder Pal Singh and Gurpratap Singh will represent Chandigarh in the third edition of the event.

Around 25 teams from across the country will be competing in the India chapter of the Malaysia Rainforest Challenge.

The event is divided into four segments — prologue, predator, terminator and the twilight zone. The categories are further bifurcated into 24 stages.

During the competition, the participants are tested on driving and vehicle recovery skills, including physical endurance, mental fitness and team spirit.

The team with maximum points at the end of the competition will be adjudged as the winner and will get a free entry into the parent event to be held in Malaysia at the end of the year.

Kabir Waraich, the first Indian to compete as a driver in the RFC event in Malaysia, said: "RFC India has taken the off-roading standard in the country to an extremely high level. I would not have modified my jeep in terms of adding lockers, roll cages, using enhanced shockers, radiators, ladder mounts and adjusted seats, if RFC had not been launched in India."

"Apart from Force Motors teams, Gurmeet (Virdi) has been a strong competitor. He has been competing neck-to-neck with me since the inception of RFC India. Pradeep Kumar from BODA and Jagat sir (Jagat Nanjappa) will also pose a tough challenge," said Waraich.
