Dehradun, July 14

Congress leader Asha Manorma Dobriyal has said the Central Government should take effective steps to strengthen telecommunication services in the state.

Asha led a delegation and met BSNL DGM Mahesh Singh here yesterday. She said broadband and 3G services were absent in half of the total panchayats in the state. She said the Centre should release funds to strengthen the telecommunication services in the state under the Digital India scheme.

The government should expedite the construction of pending 47 base transceiver stations in the state. Mobile phone connectivity was also poor along the Char Dham Yatra route in the state, she added. Harjeet Singh, Radhika Sharma, Ankit, Mukesh Rajput and Komal took part in the protest.
