Mohali, September 1
To check quality of material being used in construction of roads in the state, a team comprising senior officers of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau today collected samples from a store of the state Public Works Department (PWD), in Phase 3A, here.
The team, led by Paramjit Singh VIrk, Superintendent of Police, Vigilance, from Patiala collected various material from the store.
“The material is being used to construct roads across the state,” said a team member.
When asked whether any complaint of usage of substandard material had been received by the Vigilance, the team members claimed that it was a routine affair.
“We used to check the quality of such material,” they said.
The Vigilance team had also collected samples of Airport road in the previous year following incidents of caving in of the road at certain spots.
