Corps of Signals celebrate Raising Day

The Corps of Signals (Indian Army) today celebrated its 105th Raising Day. It was raised on in 1911. The proceedings began with Lt Gen Nitin Kohli, SO-in-C and Col Comdt, Corps of Signals laying wreaths at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in memory of martyred Signallers.
The Signal unit in Jalandhar also celebrated the Raising Day with fervour. The celebrations included various cultural events followed by a bara khana. The Corps of Signals operates at the cutting edge of information, communication, technology, electronics and cyber (ICTEC) and has a pan India presence, with several ‘pioneering firsts’ to its credit.
It is universally acknowledged for its service during the various wars imposed on independent India, participation in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief response.
As part of an initiative, the Corps has reached out to renew associations with disabled soldiers, widows, and aged and needy veterans. As of now, the Signal units across India have identified and adopted over 700 such members of their extended family.
